Fashionable hats for summer

Summer is the time when every woman wants to show how beautiful and fashionable she is. Not only clothes take part in forming the style. Accessories are also very important; no style can be complete without a trendy necklace, bracelets or other little details. As far as during this season of the year you have to cover your head for you may get sunstroke. A hat or a bonnet may become a perfect accessory to fulfill your style and express character.
The latest trend these days is a hat made of straws. What you must have in your wardrobe is a black straw hat with wide edges and a rounded vertex girded with a band. This kind of hat is definitely the most fashionable this summer. Although black is very popular, you may choose any other dark color that would fit better with your clothes. If you're planning a trip to the beach where women commonly wear light dresses, pick a white hat and you'll look perfect.
Another fashionable way to cover your head is a cap. Of course you have to pick them very carefully and it definitely goes with sporty style or jeans. Men should pick washed pigment-dyed caps. You don't have to buy a new one and make it look as if it was used for 10 years, you'll undoubtedly find those in any fashionable shop. While men are into "dirty" style, women are suggested caps with flowers. A bright colored cap will surely make you look trendy and add charm to your appearance.
It's a must for a real lady to have a bonnet. It's very hard to define what is on top, because top is originality. Large bonnets of any color decorated with flowers and bands are always trendy; however, you may find something very different and look amazing. Bonnets are not for everyday use. Original bonnet will make you noticeable and complete your style better than any other accessory.
If you can't find a hat or a bonnet that fits to your style or your face shape, choose an original and very practical way to cover your head. Wear a turban. Yes, it's very original and fashionable. You may choose any material and tie it up any way you like. It goes perfectly with any style. Moreover, it creates a characterized style.
Crocheted hats are also popular. However, there is one problem - it's rather hard to find one in a shop, because if you'll purchase not an original one you'll certainly notice other females/males wearing the same. You have to find an originally designed one or make it yourself. You can be sure that if it'll be self-made you'll receive compliments not only for hat but also for your good work.
You have to be very careful while choosing a hat or a bonnet. However, this summer is a great chance to start wearing it, because no matter what you choose - you look trendy. You're already fashionable if you wear one! And you may feel free to experiment with various materials and forms. Being original this season means being fashionable.

Fashion Jewelry Trends for 2010 by Ann Marie

Some things never change, like death and taxes. Fashion trends come and go. That is the way of the world, although the current economy of the world has considerably slowed the pace of change in all areas, not just fashion. Without money in play to spur changes, change is happening at a much slower pace. So it is in the world of fashion jewelry as well. In a way, everything old is new again because of the slower pace and sense of practicality and thriftiness.
Because women have a need for newness in their style, fashion will continue to offer changes. Some trends are emerging in 2010, but they are subtle and cautious. Big, edgy and bold pieces are still significant. Statement necklaces, large cocktail rings and massive bracelets remain important. What has emerged this year is that metal is playing a larger role in jewelry designs. Many designers showed pieces in shining gold, silver and bronze on the fall runways. Huge bracelets, necklaces and earrings out of different metals have appeared in the collections of most brands – from Giorgio Armani and Dolce Gabbana to Bottega Veneta and Valentino.
Even though color in jewelry is not as important now as metals, key colors will always change from one season to the next. Turquoise is the hot color for 2010 accessories this spring and summer. The fall 2010 color trends retain the lively nature of spring and summer with bright colors not usually seen in that season’s palette such as orchid, red, turquoise, leaf green and sunny yellow.
To wear color this summer, try a wrist full of chunky bangles or a big cuff as a great way to show off your bare arms. Statement necklaces are still in play and are the best way to glam up any look from jeans and a t-shirt to a simple summer dress. If you favor earrings then go big with dangly chandeliers. Hoops are always a classic look, but try switching it up a bit with a double hoop for some freshness.
It’s important to style these confident looks in a restrained way. When wearing a big or chunky piece, limit yourself to one piece of jewelry at a time and use it to complement a more basic outfit.
Exotic cultures have recently plaid a part in accessories and jewelry, but the change in this trend is that it is becoming more about mixing traditions; something refined and urban with something foreign and mysterious. Try mixing French chic with Indian or Asian styles for a striking look.
Some new trends that showed up on the runways for the fall are exotic leathers, cuffs, and cameos used in a more creative, less pristine sort of way. Another jewelry style that seems to be emerging and may be a key player for the holidays this year is the back necklace. Think of this as the extra long piece that is turned around - clasps in the front and hangs down the back when worn with a low back dress or blouse.
Keep in mind as you consider fashion jewelry trends that it is the combination of color, length, scale, silhouette, and use of materials
that combines to create a look that is modern, memorable, and unique.

Wedding Jewelry Trends by Chris Franchetti

Today's wedding jewelry trends span many styles and themes. Brides, wedding party members, family, and guests are using wedding celebrations as special opportunities to get creative with personal adornment.
Earrings, necklaces and bracelets designed for wedding-wear are often styled to complement the whites and ivories of traditional wedding dresses. But wedding jewelry can also be used to enhance the personalized theme of a wedding, or even to match carefully-placed color accents on a bridal gown. And since it's becoming popular for brides and their party to change outfits between the wedding and reception (even Camilla changed clothes between her private and public ceremonies), there's often a need for two distinct sets of jewelry for one wedding day.
Here are some of this year's most popular wedding jewelry trends:
* Chandeliers - The chandelier earring styles we've grown to love for everyday-jewelry make dramatic wedding earrings* when adorned with pearls or crystals. Chandeliers can also take the form of elegant necklace stations or pendants.
* 20th Century vintage - The romantic styles of the 1920s, '30s, and '40s - from Art Deco* to Old Hollywood* - are perfect for any elegant wedding, not just themed ceremonies. Look for sparkling faceted stones and quality vintage glass beads.
* Drapery drops and multiple layers - Many brides will take advantage of the bold, multi-layer necklace* look this year. We'll see lots of drapey strands, often surrounding eye-catching centerpieces. Layers may be adorned with pearls, crystal beads, and even less-traditional materials like mother-of-pearl or moonstone gemstones.
* Contemporary pearls - Pearls of all shapes and sizes are everywhere this year, and they're readily available in non-traditional, dyed colors in addition to classic creams and whites. Some brides are adding color accents to their wedding gowns, and colorful pearls* can be beautiful matching accompaniments.
* Hair jewelry and tiaras - Tiaras* and other jeweled hair accents are popular feminine favorites worn not only by brides, but by their wedding parties and guests as well. Traditional tiaras are crafted from wire, beads, crystals, and rhinestones. Jeweled combs* and beaded hair pins are also available for a more subtle look. For the bride and her party wearing up dos, specialty hair sticks* can add a fun and unique finishing touch.
* Ribbon-band watches - No one wants to arrive late to a wedding - especially not to her own! Today there are lots of fabulous watch styles that make very appropriate wedding wear. For example, the trendy new ribbon watches* are feminine, a little bit formal, and can be matched to a wedding's color theme. Vintage-style* and true-vintage metal watches, some adorned with dainty rhinestones, also make beautiful wedding day accents.

Movie Star Glamor by Susan Dorling
The Emitations line of jewelry utilizes rhodium plating to provide protection for sterling silver and white gold jewelry to help prevent tarnish and scratches. Rhodium also adds beauty and is an affordable way to capture the look of platinum. The pieces at Emitations are also E-coated, also known as electro-coating or electro deposition. This method uses electrical current to coat a metal surface with an organic lacquer, covering every nook and cranny on the jewelry with an even and consistent protective coat. The finished product is not quite as shiny as the rhodium-plated pieces, but lets the natural beauty of the sterling silver come through without fear of damage.
Emitations also offers nickel-free jewelry for those of you (approximately 15% of the population) who experience allergic reactions to nickel. Symptoms range from itching and redness to blisters or rashes at the point of contact. It is the metallic salts that are created when nickel comes into contact with perspiration that causes this reaction.
Emitations uses Signity Cubic Zirconias for their jewelry. These CZ’s offer perfect color and clarity and are cut to ideal proportions to achieve maximum brilliance and fire. A deviation of only a single degree when cutting stones results in a dramatic loss of light and Signity Cubic Zirconias have developed a cutting technology that results in an eight-point star pattern known as “hearts and arrows” in the diamond industry. This cut achieves maximum brilliance and dispersion.

How Fashion Jewelry Trends Develop by Susan Dorling
Jewelry looks tend to change concurrent with clothing trends, so it is important to look at the route with which garments styles are formed in order to track jewelry style tendencies. Color and fabric is a big part of what dictates the cycle of a fashion trend. That cycle begins about a year before the fashions hit the runway when those in the know predict what colors will be popular during a coming season. Color forecasting is a delicate balance of art and intelligence gathering which is then interpreted to create their predictions. Companies such as Pantone, the color experts, are highly regarded for their knowledge and insight on the subject.
The couture design houses then use the predicted colors and other influences to create their lines for the next year. The ready to wear designers look to the trends coming out of the couture houses to develop their designs. Some other influences can be street style, which has taken on a level of inspiration of its own. Developments in society such as economics and culture can play a hand in all this as well.
The upcoming season’s fashions hit the runways of Fashion Week celebrations around the world along with accessories like shoes, bags and jewelry. Editors from fashion magazines and blogs, celebrities and their stylists are all in attendance and report on the trends. Celebrity stylists who are in-the-know, such as Rachel Zoe, can have a huge impact on what consumers want because they take the new fashions, combine them in a creative way with accessories to give them a unique look and place them on famous people who wear them where they will be photographed and get attention. Consumers are influenced to want these styles by all of the up-to-the-minute images and thus style trends are born. If fashionistas reject fashion dictates and do not embrace a style, then it will fade away and the trend never develops.
Consumers can play a role in creating trends as well. When shoppers want a certain product the trend expands and takes on a life of it’s own. Shoppers go into stores looking for an item and if enough demand is seen for that design, the store buyers stock them in the stores. Although those requests may be similar to what is being worn in the magazines and on the stars, sometimes they prefer to stray away from the mainstream of what is being sold to them as "the item of the moment". They prefer to add their own style and personality to the items they request and in doing so create several sub-trends which give way to the next 'hot' item which in turn can be seen as an influence on fashion designers. The cycle continues.

Female Fashion by TomJacobsen
When you purchase clothes that are truly in fashion, you may see the emergence of some ideas from older styles. These ideas have been revamped, and they give current fashion a new look. To bring the foremost trends into your closet, look for clothes that are in tune with the latest in fashion.
Jodhpurs were once only seen on younger and growing children riding horses. Now they are the epitome of style and considered very cool. Their unique shape makes them catch the eye, when you compare them to traditional pants. Jodhpurs give a more full look, since the thighs are wide. Don't try to pull this fashion trend off unless you are slim, because it will accentuate the hips.
Voluminous skirts are knee length and flared, with gathers that are in style today. A bright skirt is the perfect thing to slip on when you're headed out for the evening. The swirls make it a breezy look.
Ruffles may have been out of the Fashion Limelight for awhile, but they are back now. Blouses with soft ruffles can be made from stylish fabrics that shimmer and shine. Ruffles work well for romantic dinners, and the can create a look that says sophistication.
Dresses that are glamorous, like the baby doll style, are becoming very popular when used as evening wear. Dresses in a mid-length can be layered and combined with contrasting leggings for a truly unique style. You can veer away from long formal gowns unless you're going to a truly formal event. Knee length dresses in stylish fabrics are comfortable and beautiful at the same time.
Accessories with bling can't be ignored. Jewelry looks great when you pair it with jeans or other casual apparel. The idea is to have one piece elaborate and the other understated, like wearing an ornate necklace with smaller earrings. You will want to maintain a proper balance that will give you an interesting look that's always in style.

20 Fashion Tips
A great fit can make an outfit, just as a poor fit can break it!
A well-cut suit is one of the most flattering outfits you can own. Remember: dark tones create a long line.
Choose a fingertip length jacket or one that falls mid-hip. Pants should be straight leg or boot cut and the hem should be worn slightly long.
Select flat knit, fine rib and jersey tops; Choose pants with flapless pockets, flat fronts with just enough stretch for added comfort.
Know thyself - Know your proportions!
Skinny bottom half? Wear a full top over narrow pants
Short waisted? Wear a long top and short skirt
Petite torso? Wear a fitted top with full pants
Long waisted? Pair a short top with long bottoms
Show off the trimmest parts of your body by combining a tight fitting piece with a loose fitting one.
Any color worn head to toe in a clean, unbroken line will produce a dynamically slimming effect.
Don't worry if separates don't match exactly. Tonal variations are a creative alternative.
Taller bodies can take larger prints and more contrast.
The darker a print's background, the slimmer the look.
Blouses: a collared shirt always gives a torso a few good inches and frames the face handsomely.
A slim v-neck makes the neck appear longer and is usually very flattering.
Boatnecks are great for minimizing waists and hips, while maximizing sexy shoulders.
If your legs are fuller inside, try a side slit. If your legs are fuller outside, a mid-front or back slit is a better choice.
There is never an excuse for panty lines! A thong is a girl's best friend - they even come with tummy control.
Bright colors bring attention to an area - make sure you wear them wisely and only on your most flattering body parts.
Dark hosiery is in this fall. While brightly colored turquoise and scarlet hose may look great in the store window, muted hues like teal and wine are much more flattering. Match the shoe and the hose color to tighten the look even more.
A shoulder bag tucked quietly under the arm is most flattering.
Stilettos are back and in spite of the discomfort at times - they make your legs look like a million dollars!

The Mystery of Fashion Trends
This summer it is "boho" chic. Last summer, it was preppy sailor simplicity. In the late 90's it was the grunge look. Yellow is the new black. Jeans are the new business casual. And on. And on. Yes, I am writing of fashion trends. The latest look, style, and color floods the covers of magazines, the shelves of retailers from Saks to H & M, the bodies of celebrities and television characters and, undoubtedly, is able to get enough of us to buy into it (literally and figuratively) to validate the whole cycle. So, while most of us are easily able to grasp this continuously perpetuating cycle of saturating the public with the latest, greatest duds, questions remain: how does a trend start? Who makes this decision? Why does it work?
Well, to be perfectly honest, there is no definitive answer to the myth that is a fashion trend. But, while the exact formula is beyond the consumer, we can be sure that it takes the work of several different interdependent fashion industry professions to convince us that espadrilles, suspenders, and terry-cloth suits are worthy of our dollars and donning.
Fashion designers gather their inspiration, whether it comes from popular culture, music, politics, a celebrity muse, or something else entirely. Then, they design - usually a spring and fall collection. With a slew of inspired, perfectly crafted designs ready to hit the runway, they show their collections.
It could possibly be said that the trend begins at the fashion show. Fashion writers, buyers, photographers and celebrities line the runways, waiting to take in, criticize and praise the designer's work.
Writers go back to their offices and verbally comment on the design they have seen. If a collection is deemed great, the editor may be persuaded to feature the clothing on the cover of the month's issue. This is also influenced by fashion publicists - professionals who are paid to get the designer's duds in front of larger audiences. Thus, we read about the latest fashion trend.
Photographers snap photos as the models parade down the runway and sell them to parties interested in the designer's work. The photos show up in newspapers, industry magazines, fashion magazines and various other media outlets. Thus, we see the latest fashion trend.
Buyers, if impressed, order pieces that their clientele will be willing to pay hundreds or thousands to own. Other designers, those focused on mass production of more affordable versions of the latest trend, gather their inspiration here too. Thus, we can purchase the latest fashion trend.
So, as you can see, it is impossible to pinpoint exactly how a fashion becomes a trend. What you can know, with certainty, is that it took many professionals in the fashion industry to get you to the cash register with your bohemian-inspired peasant blouse.
Fashion Over-The-Knee Boots

Like Superman around Kryptonite, we find ourselves powerless in the presence of fall's most unstoppable footwear fad: the over-the-knee boot. Rather than tucking our skinny jeans into mid-calf ropers or shoving our opaque-stocking-clad legs into wellies, right now we only want to slip on these semi-scandalous shoes. It may sound far-fetched, but it's true: these traffic-stopping boots are so aggressively chic that they make all other cold-weather options look pass. But why, you might ask, are these boots so powerful? For one, they were the sky-high style of choice for the most influential runways (which were jam-packed with up-to-there boots) and our favorite taste makers took to the look in seconds flat. In short: they're the season's superhero shoes!

Dress with Conscience: Eco-Friendly Fashion by Collen

“Fashion is all about looking good. But in these Eco-conscious times, consumers are also looking to feel good about the clothing they wear.” – Mission Savvy and GG2G Partner with Farm Sanctuary
What does it mean to be Eco-friendly? We usually think about turning off all the lights when we go to bed at night and only eating locally-grown produce. But what about what you wear? What do you need to know to dress Eco-consciously?
Farm Sanctuary, the nation’s leading animal-welfare protection agency, is partnering with many fashion retailers and designers to work towards sustainable, animal-free fashion. Companies like GG2G and Mission Savvy have already signed up, and their styles have really heated up thanks to this partnership. The companies are pledging not only to change to safer chemicals for their manufacturing, but also donating a cut of their profits to animal protection organization. The Mission Savvy Voice collection has pledged to donate directly to Farm Sanctuary’s advocacy work for animals. GG2G will also be using recycled materials for their new line of handbags. Looking at the styles, I’m convinced: this is a movement to be a part of.
So what should you keep in mind for your eco-friendly fashion? Look for companies that pledge to use recycled or partially-recycled materials, donate a cut of their profits to animal or environmental advocacy organizations, or pledge to use non-toxic materials. Also, don’t be afraid to buy vintage. Reuse clothing: stuff still looks great if it’s been warn a couple of times. Your vintage shoes, scarves, shirts, etc. will feel like new.Author : Collen
College Style Fashion by Primrose and Ritika

She layers well. The varying textures in the sweater, scarf, and coat illuminate her warmth and style in the cold. Her laying is top-heavy and adds length to her body. Unfortunately, the skinny jeans emphasize her bottom half. No matter what look she was going for, I’m really digging the animal print boots.
I’m hesitant to give the look two thumbs up. For the boots, I’ll give it one.
Make It Your Own:
The great thing about this look is that it is versatile and adaptable. Mix and match your own colors and textures. We recommend that you stick with neutral tones when you’re mixing textures and patterns. After all, this look is for the everyday: class, work, and errands. After all, you’re shopping with your taste, your sense of style, and your budget!

Invest with Vests: Plus Size Fashion by Primrose

Wearing vests are a quick versatile fix to add detail to my everyday style. On a casual day, I will simply layer my vests over a basic T-shirt or tank top and match with a pair of jeans and flats. And on a more dressy occasion, I can wear my vests over a decorative blouse: matching with leggings and heels. The vest trend is a year round classic that can easily be added for a “put together” look without much effort. Fashion should not be that difficult!
Plus size vests are now available in different styles of fabrics and textures. Usually similar in cut, the vest look is a must-have for your wardrobe. The vest length should sit below the waist to minimize the hips, and elongate your figure. Choose vests in solid colors and do not opt for prints. Layering over solid color tops within the same color scheme will slim down your figure. Layering over tops with a huge contrast will attract attention to the body that wears the lighter color (i.e. a black vest over a white top will focus more on arms, and a light colored vest over a dark top will focus on chest area). Staying within the same color scheme and minimal contrast will lengthen your torso area, and put less attention on certain body parts.
Also, consider the texture of the fabrics used on your vest. I like the vests that drape along the front neckline to the hem. The ruffled or draping detail actually let the eyes focus on the top and follow downwards, which makes you look taller and proportionate. Try to avoid thick textures which can only add more weight along your upper half.

Tips and Tricks: Summer Scarves by Colleen

Anyway, now it is summertime, and the unfortunate need to wrap a woolen scarf around your neck 10 times so it doesn’t flop on the floor is gone. No longer do you need to wrap your neck up and ward off the cold–actually, now you need to mop off the sweat from the summer heat! But what types of scarves do you need for that? And how do you wear them?
1. The bandeau. A thin silk handkerchief wrapped around your neck, this is perfect to ward off the heat. You can always dip it in water and wrap it around your neck like the cowboy’s do, but I don’t think you want to ruin the nice silk.
2. The headscarf. Take a bright, brilliant colored fabric a little longer than the bandeau and tie it around your head like a headband. It will keep your hair pulled back and look bright and cheerful. Happiness!
3. The belted scarf. Use a thin, colorful scarf to belt a dress or shorts. It will add a little punch to your wardrobe!Author : Colleen

Fashion Comes to The Great Wall of China by valentina

It wasn’t the clothes so much as the staging that was so monumental. Actually, a lot of the designs were from the Milan show, with a small collection put together for this particular catwalk. But still, it was beautiful and glamorous.

One of summer’s most luscious trends is of the fruit variety. From strawberries to watermelons, fruit jewelry is starting to pop up everywhere. Fruity bobbles are really versatile–you can wear them casually or as a fun touch to more formal ensembles. I’m partial to Kenneth Jay Lane’s apple pendant, which is simple and unexpected with its mix of green and gold.

Jewelry Style Review: Copper, Diamonds, and Art by Primrose

After reviewing jewelry designed by Carla Reiter, I have a newfound appreciation for art within a jewelry piece: a winning combination of quality and style. This jewelry maker has a strong handmade feel for knitted silver, gold, and copper material used in her collection. Her jewelry is not mass produced or renditions of marketplace accessories: this is pure art.
After looking at some styles in her collection, I was unable to grasp the concept of the design in itself. Knowing the materials and intricacy of each design had gained my interest. But when I saw a picture of a model wearing this stylish sculpture I was in awe. When worn, the captivation of each piece is inexplicable. She mentions that her jewelry is made to accentuate the curvature of the wristbone or collarbone, paying attention to detail and how the material lays on the human form. Carla Reiter is able to combine a sophisticated understanding of anatomy, physiology, and aesthetics.
My favorite styles are the ones which are richly patinated copper with small diamonds. The mixture of sparkly gemstone and rawness of copper make a unique balance of subdued elegance. I have never seen anything like this anywhere, and the only thing that would make me hesitant is the weight of the materials used when worn. Other than that, this is truly a perfectly tailored piece of nature’s beauty.
Carla was born in Palo Alto, California and raised in the Midwest. She went to Indiana University to study silversmithing but switched to sculpture after absorbing the rudiments of jewelry technique. She had imagined such elaborate designs and the possibilities of such techniques challenged her creations. With her background and knowledge of art and sculpture, this creative silvermith started hand- knitting three dimensional pieces with an understanding of the human body.

Jewelry Style Review: How to Wear Tribal Jewels by Colleen

You want to keep tribal pieces from looking like costume jewelry by toning down the rest of your outfit. If you are going to pick a show-stopping piece, especially the ones with large found objects like keys or rusted chain, you are going to want to keep your fabric neckline sleek and your hair pulled back to really show off the piece.
What’s great is that tribal-inspired jewelry is meaningful, beautiful, and wearable for all occasions! You can dress it up with pumps and a little black dress, or tone it down with a relaxed ripped shorts, gladiator sandals and tank top kind of day. No matter what your style, tribal-inspired jewelry will make you feel chic.
The featured artist, JEWELS, spent her formative years growing up in Tripoli. She traveled extensively with her family from Tunis to Tangiers and recalls endless wanderings through exotic market souks with her mother. Struck by the beauty of the coral, amber, silver and gold – all the wealth of North African families – she says, “I was hooked.”
